Pre-op Guide

1. CONSULTATION

  • To write down any questions you may have, keep a notebook with you a few days before you arrive. You can use your notebook during the consultation. Keep it with you and write down the answers to your questions.

2. PRE-OP

  • The fact that you ate and drank between the required hours makes it easier to take and also less painful.

3. DAY OF PROCEDURE

  • Bring a dressing gown and a pair of slippers with you.
  • Bring a laptop, book, magazine, etc. to help you pass time.
  • Either remove any piercings or use plastic change.
  • Please remove any false eyelashes, snaps (metal), nail polish, or false nails. Do not use a moisturizer or deodorant before surgery.
  • Energy with you for post-surgery hydration You can bring drinks.
  • Keep your phone, charger, and camera with you if you want to take photos after surgery.
  • If you have nausea after anesthesia, report it to your nurse and request anti-nausea medication.

4. POST-OP

  • Since you will not be able to take a shower for the first few days after the surgery, you can bring anti-bacterial wet wipes to clean yourself.
  • After your clothes are removed, water the pencil marks, and clean using cream. Use non irritating cleaners. Do not touch your wounds.
  • Protein is important for wound and muscle healing. For this reason, consume plenty of low-fat & protein-rich foods such as turkey, chicken, fish, tofu, and red meat.
  • You will start to see the results after six weeks in breast prosthesis. But remember that everyone’s recovery speed is different so it might take several weeks or months before you can see your final results.
  • Swell/Falling – Through tissue expansion, your body adapts to your prosthesis. While the upper breast fullness decreases and lower breast fullness increases.   • For at least one year, use a minimum SPF 30 sunscreen on your scars. Or directly closing your wounds will be better.

5. KEY POINTS

  • Take at least two weeks off from your work or school.
  • Place the basic necessities you use at home (tea, cup, medicine, etc.) to the waist level so that you don’t need to bend over.
